Customize Tax Rates: Charge different rates for listings or locations as needed.
Simplify Pricing: Automatically calculate taxes on orders for accurate totals.

Note: An order’s total tax rate is the sum of all listing taxes and location taxes applied to that order, so double-check your profiles for accuracy.
đź› How to Set Up Taxes
Follow these steps to create tax profiles and apply them to listings and delivery locations in Fleetwire, ensuring your orders are taxed correctly.
Step 1: Create Listing Tax Profiles
Set up tax profiles for your listings to apply specific tax rates.
In your Fleetwire dashboard, go to Settings > Taxes.
Under Listing Tax Profiles, click to create a new profile.
Enter the tax rate (e.g., 8% for sales tax) and a name for the profile (e.g., “Standard Listing Tax”).
Save the profile to make it available for your listings.
Here’s what the listing tax profiles interface looks like in your dashboard.

Pro Tip: Create multiple profiles if your listings have varying tax requirements—some might be tax-exempt, while others need a higher rate.
Step 2: Apply Tax Profiles to Listings
Assign a tax profile to a listing to ensure the correct tax rate is applied during checkout.
Navigate to Listings and select the listing you want to update.
Go to the Pricing page for that listing.
Check the box to mark the listing as taxable.
From the dropdown, select the appropriate tax profile (e.g., “Standard Listing Tax”).
Click Save to apply the tax profile to the listing.
Here’s what the tax profile application looks like on the listing pricing page.

Quick Tip: Review your local tax laws to ensure each listing is taxed correctly—some products might be exempt depending on your region.
Step 3: Apply Tax Profiles to Locations
Assign a tax profile to a delivery location to apply location-specific taxes.
Go to Settings > Delivery Locations in your dashboard.
Create a new delivery location or update an existing one.
Check the box to mark the location as taxable.
From the dropdown, select the appropriate tax profile.
Click Save to apply the tax profile to the location.
Here’s what the tax profile application looks like on the delivery location settings page.

Note: The tax rates from the profile are added to the order total when a delivery location is selected, contributing to the order’s overall tax rate.
Step 4: Test Your Tax Setup
Ensure your tax profiles are applied correctly by testing an order.
Create a test order via your online store (e.g., testcompany.fleetwire.io) or manually in Orders.
Add a listing and a delivery location with assigned tax profiles.
Review the order total at checkout to confirm the correct tax rates are applied (sum of listing and location taxes).
Warning: If taxes aren’t applied as expected, double-check that the listing and location are marked as taxable and the correct profiles are selected. Incorrect tax settings can lead to pricing errors.
