🛠 How to Create an API Key

Follow these simple steps to generate your API key in Fleetwire.

Step 1: Access Company Settings

In your Fleetwire dashboard, find the Company Settings gear cog icon in the left menu.
Click the icon to open your Company Settings.

Pro Tip: Company Settings is where you manage other global preferences, like email templates or online reservation settings, as noted in Create Your Own Email Templates in Fleetwire.

Step 2: Generate an API Key

Scroll down to the API Tokens section in Company Settings.
Click the + SECRET KEY button to create a new API key.
Your new API key will appear on the screen.
Highlight and copy the key to use it in your integrations.



Note: API keys inherit the same user permissions as the account they’re created under. For example, if your account can’t access certain listings, the API key won’t be able to either.

Warning: Treat your API key like a password—don’t share it publicly! If it’s compromised, you can revoke it in the API Tokens section and generate a new one.

Step 3: Use Your API Key

Paste the copied API key into the external tool or app you’re integrating with Fleetwire (e.g., a custom script, Zapier, or a CRM).
Test the integration to ensure it works as expected. For example, on May 14, 2025, at 06:13 PM EDT, you might sync your latest bookings to a third-party calendar.
Monitor API usage in your dashboard to track requests and ensure everything runs smoothly.

Quick Tip: Keep a record of where you use your API key. If you need to revoke it later, you’ll know which integrations to update.
