🔑 Creating Your API Token

To use the API, you’ll need an API token. Generating one is a breeze in your Fleetwire dashboard:

Go to Settings > Integrations > API tokens.
Click New token and give it a Name.
Choose its Access: Full access, Read only, or Custom.
Click Create token, then copy it from Copy your new token. You'll only see it once.

⚠️ Security Alert: Treat your API token like a password! A Full access token can do anything you can do in the dashboard. For reporting or bookkeeping tools, create a Read only token instead. If you suspect a leak, delete the token and create a new one.

💡 Why Use the API?

Here’s what you can do with the Fleetwire API:

Bookkeeping and Reporting: Pull bookings with pickup and return locations, amount paid (security deposits excluded) and balance due.
Automate Bookings: Sync reservations with your custom app or third-party tools like Zapier.
Manage Listings: Update vehicle details or availability in real-time.
Track Payments: Pull transaction data for reporting or analytics.

Note: Every paid plan (Basic, Standard and Premium) can create Read only tokens, which is enough for bookkeeping and reporting tools. Changing data through the API (Full access or Custom tokens) needs the Premium plan. Ready to upgrade? Change your plan today!
