How to Create a Pricing Structure Template
Like many rental businesses, your rental pricing may change based on the length of the reservation. For example, you may offer a discounted weekly rate compared to charging the daily rate seven times.
Thankfully, Fleetwire has created pricing structure templates, so you can avoid spending hours repetitively creating the same structure for each product, and create just one template to automate the pricing structures of your inventory.
How it works
Pricing structure templates support two calculation modes:
Tiered Pricing
- Best for progressive duration discounts.
- Example: 2-day, 3-day, and 7-day rentals each have their own discounted price.
Repeatable Packages
- Best for weekly or monthly package pricing.
- Example: A 14-day rental can automatically use two weekly packages.
Most businesses should use Tiered Pricing unless they specifically want weekly or monthly packages to repeat.
Pricing structure templates allow you to create reusable pricing rules that can be applied to all of your products, or a select group of products, saving time when setting up pricing in Fleetwire.
The example below shows a pricing structure that automatically adjusts rental pricing based on reservation length.

Pricing structure templates allow you to set duration-based pricing rules that automatically calculate rental prices based on trip length.
1. Open a new pricing structure template
The first step is to open up a new pricing structure template in your Fleetwire settings.
- In your Fleetwire account, go to Settings > Pricing > Pricing templates and click ‘Create pricing structure template’.

When creating a template, choose the pricing mode that best matches how you want rentals calculated.
2. Enter your placeholder price
- In the Price Tiers box, under the field ‘Enter your example price’, enter in the starting price for one of your products that this template will apply to.
While this price only acts as an example and won’t apply to every product, it allows you to first create this template using prices rather than percentages.

3. Edit your first price tier
You will see from the image below that you can change your starting prices duration from per hour, day, week, or month.
Add in the correct duration, and make sure the Multiply base price by field is set correctly so the Resulting price matches your desired rental price.

4. Add in your remaining price tiers
You will see from the image below that as you press the Add price tier button, you can input the rest of your structure.

For example:
Duration | Multiplier |
|---|---|
1 Day | 1.00x |
2 Days | 1.75x |
3 Days | 2.25x |
In this example, customers receive a discount as their rental duration increases.
- The easiest way to do this is to start by adding all of the durations you want to support, such as 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 1 month, or even multiple years.
- Then, you can edit the Multiply base price by field to customize how pricing changes as reservation duration increases.
In the image example, I have added the two day rental price at 1.75x the base price per day, so the customer receives a ~12% discount should they book two days instead of one.
The resulting price will update automatically so you can see if the structure is being created correctly.
5. Add in automated increments
Now it is time to add in the rate for every duration (hour, day, week, or month) that is added after this structure.
For example, this structure ends at a 3 day price at $270, however customers can add on as many extra days as they wish for $72 per day (or 0.6x the base price).
How automatic increments work
If your longest tier is 3 days and a customer books 5 days, Fleetwire will calculate:
3-Day Tier + 2 Additional Daily Increments
This allows customers to continue extending reservations without requiring a pricing tier for every possible duration.
Tiered Pricing vs Repeatable Packages
Tiered Pricing
Use Tiered Pricing when each duration tier represents the total price for that rental duration.
Example:
- 1 Day = $55
- 2 Days = $95
- 3 Days = $130
Additional days are calculated using the automatic increment settings.
Repeatable Packages
In Repeatable Packages mode, Fleetwire automatically applies the largest pricing package available and repeats it when appropriate.
Repeatable Packages are commonly used for weekly and monthly rental programs where customers should automatically receive the package rate multiple times as their reservation length increases.
Example:
- 1 Day = $55
- 1 Week = $330
A 14-day rental would automatically use two weekly packages.
This mode is ideal for weekly or monthly package pricing.
6. Apply your pricing structure template to products
Finally, you will need to apply your pricing structure template to the products that this pricing structure applies to.
Once a template has been created, you can apply it to any listing that should follow the same pricing strategy.
- Click the Listings page from the sidebar menu, click into a product, and go to the Pricing panel.
- In the Pricing method box, choose the Pricing structure option.
- Choose the Pricing structure template option. Set the base price to the starting price for this product, and select your new template from the drop down menu.
