Connect Bouncie to Track Mileage and Fuel

📍 Connect Bouncie to Fleetwire

Bouncie is a plug-in GPS tracker for your car's OBD port. Connect your Bouncie account to Fleetwire and each car's odometer and fuel level are recorded at pickup and return automatically, your listings' odometers stay current, and you can see where every car is and where it's been.

🎯 What Bouncie Does in Fleetwire

  • Odometer and fuel at pickup and return: Fleetwire reads the car when a trip starts and ends and fills in the order. No more photos of the dash.
  • Current odometer on every listing: Each reading updates the listing's odometer, so maintenance reminders and mileage overage work off real numbers.
  • Live status: See each car's odometer, fuel, speed, battery and whether it's running or parked.
  • Trips and location: See the car's last known location and recent trips on a map.
  • Check engine alerts: If the check engine light is on, the car's page tells you, with the trouble codes.

Note: You need a Bouncie device plugged into each car and a Bouncie account. Basic includes 1 smart-car connection, Standard 5 and Premium 10.

🛠 Setting Up Bouncie

Step 1: Connect Your Bouncie Account

  1. Go to Connections → Bouncie and click Connect Bouncie.
  2. Sign in to Bouncie and approve Fleetwire.
  3. You'll land back on the Bouncie page, and your cars start syncing.

Pro Tip: Have more than one Bouncie account? Click Add connection to connect each one.

Readings only go to a booking when the car is linked to the listing that was booked.

  1. Go to Connections → Bouncie → Vehicles and open a car.
  2. Click Link a listing.
  3. Pick the listing. If a listing has the same VIN, it's suggested at the top under Same VIN.

To move the device to another car, open the car's page and click Link a different listing or Unlink listing.

Quick Tip: Link each car to one listing. Linking a car to a new listing releases it from the old one.

Step 3: Let the Readings Fill In

Once a car is linked, you don't need to do anything else:

  • When you mark a booking Started, Fleetwire reads the car and fills in the pickup odometer and fuel.
  • When you mark it Completed, it fills in the return odometer and fuel.
  • If nobody marks it, Fleetwire reads the car shortly after the trip's start time, and about 15 minutes after its end time.

Fuel is recorded as the nearest gauge mark (for example, ¾), the way you'd enter it by hand. On the order, values read from the car are tagged Bouncie.

Note: A value you typed in yourself is never replaced. If a car has both a Tesla connection and a Bouncie device, Fleetwire reads it from Tesla.

Step 4: Read the Car Any Time

Need a reading right now? On the order, open Update Odometer & Fuel and click Read from Bouncie next to Pickup or Return. The values fill in, and nothing is saved until you click Save.

🔧 Troubleshooting

  • "Needs reconnecting": Bouncie stopped accepting Fleetwire's sign-in. Click Reconnect with Bouncie next to the account and sign in again. Your cars stay linked to their listings.
  • "This Bouncie connection is turned off": Turn the switch next to the account back on under Connections → Bouncie.
  • The odometer didn't fill in: Check that the car is linked to the booked listing and its connection is on. Bouncie reports the car's last known state, so an unplugged device reports old numbers until it's plugged back in. You can always enter the values by hand.
  • A car is missing: Open the account's menu (⋮) and click Refresh vehicles.

Warning: Removing a Bouncie connection unlinks its cars from your listings. To pause it instead, use the switch.

🌟 You're All Set

With Bouncie connected and your cars linked, pickup and return numbers record themselves, your listings' odometers stay current, and you can see every car at a glance.

Happy renting! 🌟
